At the tender age of 19, Abrar Ahmed made his debut for the Pakistani side in the second Test against England on 9 December 2022. Before lunch on the first day of the match, Abrar Ahmed had collected five wickets, making history as the first Pakistani bowler to do so on Test debut. This occurred in December 2022, during England’s visit to Pakistan. With his five wickets in his first Test, he joined an exclusive club, being just the 13th bowler from Pakistan to do so.

Before midday on the first day of his Test debut, Abrar became just the second bowler in the history of international Test cricket to capture a five-wicket haul. Windies left-arm spinner Alf Valentine was the first player to record a five-wicket haul before lunch on the opening day of his Test debut; this occurred on 8 June 1950 at Manchester. Nearly seventy-two years later, in his maiden Test match against England at Multan, Abrar Ahmed grabbed five wickets before lunch. He finished the day with seven wickets for 114 runs.
