”Can we call it Goodluck Jonathan bridge?’- Presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, replies Twitter user who protested against the naming of the Second Niger Bridge after President Buhari

Bashir Ahmad, the personal assistant to President Buhari on New Media, has replied to a Twitter user who protested about the naming of the second Niger Bridge after President Buhari.

The 1.6km Bridge which was started by the Goodluck Jonathan administration is currently being worked on by the Buhari administration and might be completed before 2023.

Bashir took to his Twitter handle on Thursday, February 10, to reveal that the bridge has been renamed the Muhammadu Buhari Bridge. He wrote;

”Ladies and gentlemen, the Muhammadu Buhari Bridge (MBB), a 1.6KM Bridge that will be a major connection point between two economically vital regions in Nigeria.”

A Nigerian felt the bridge shouldn’t be named after President Buhari as it was not the President who initiated it. He wrote;

 ”It is not Muhammadu Buhari Bridge and it can never be. It wasn’t buhari who initiated the project neither did he used his salary to construct the Bridge. That’s 2nd Niger Bridge or Southern Link Bridge.”

Responding, Bashir wrote;

 ”So, can we call it Goodluck Jonathan Bridge for sketching the bridge? The bridge is to be called “Muhammadu Buhari Bridge”, read the name again and let it sink in your head.”
