Two policemen killed as unknown gunmen abduct husband and wife in Imo

Unknown gunmen have killed two policemen attached to a couple in Owerri, Imo state.

According to reports, the couple and the security officers were heading to Owerri Airport on Monday night, February 21, when they were attacked by the assailants who killed the security officers and then abducted the couple. The assailants later released the couple and dropped them off at Ukpor, Nnewi South local government area.

A family source said the assailants inflicted deep cuts on the husband and also fired gunshot at the driver who is currently in the hospital receiving medical attention.

 “They released them around 11pm. One of their relations received a call from one of the victims to send the driver to come and pick them up at Ukpor where they dropped them off.

We are traumatized. I flew back to Anambra last night. I thank God they are alive and back to their community.”the family source said

The state police command is yet to comment on this development.
