PDP Voices Concerns about Alleged Presidential Involvement in Plateau Massacre, Criticizes Tinubu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his alleged role in what they referred to as a genocide in Plateau State.

The PDP accused Tinubu of failing to visit the affected communities in Plateau and raised concerns about his possible complicity in the tragic events.

The opposition party also called for an investigation by the International Criminal Court (ICC) into the massacre that took place on Christmas Eve, where over a hundred people were killed in multiple communities in Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State. The party expressed dismay at Tinubu’s failure to show personal empathy and leadership by visiting the affected areas.

The PDP highlighted the public’s concerns regarding intelligence failures before and during the coordinated massacre, and referred to former military head of state, Gen. Sani Abacha’s statement about potential complicity by government officials in such crisis situations. The party demanded that Tinubu allay fears and address the nation by visiting the affected communities, tracking down the perpetrators and their sponsors, and taking concrete steps to address the situation.

The PDP criticized Tinubu for his perceived insensitivity and dereliction of duty as the Commander-in-Chief, emphasizing that he should have played the role of the “Consoler-in-Chief” by visiting the troubled areas and demonstrating leadership and empathy. They expressed disappointment in Tinubu’s reliance on aides and surrogates to issue statements and make visits instead of personally addressing the situation.

The party drew a parallel with President Joe Biden’s gesture of kneeling before the daughter of George Floyd to offer condolences, highlighting the need for Tinubu to learn from such empathetic actions. The PDP condemned Tinubu’s lack of empathy, tokenism, and apparent detachment from the suffering of the citizens while remaining in the comfort of the Presidential villa.

In addition to their criticism, the PDP reiterated their call for an investigation by the ICC into the genocide committed against the peaceful and innocent people of Plateau State on Christmas Eve.
