Governor Alia Pledges to Probe Incursions into State Lands, Issues Warning to Offenders

Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, the Governor of Benue State, has instructed the Urban Development Board in the state to launch an investigation into the encroachment of government lands by residents in Makurdi, the state capital.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, released a statement regarding this on Wednesday in Makurdi.

During a visit to Benue Links, the state-owned transport company, Governor Alia ordered the board to promptly identify and summon individuals who have constructed buildings on waterways or illegally taken possession of government lands.

He emphasized that those who have encroached on lands or built on waterways must present their titles and other relevant documents for assessment and verification.

Governor Alia made it clear that the state will not tolerate the suffering caused to the people by the greed of a few individuals.

The governor’s directive aims to address the issue of encroachment into government lands and ensure that such illegal activities are properly investigated and offenders are held accountable.
