Lagos NURTW executive, Kunle Poly sent to Ikoyi prison

An executive of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos, Alhaji Azeez Adekunle Lawal popularly known as “Kunle Poly” has been remanded in Ikoyi Prison.

 

A Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court on Monday February 28, ordered that he be detained at Ikoyi prison for another 30 days, following the expiration of the initial order given for him to be remanded for 30 days at Zone 2 Headquarters of the Nigeria Police, Onikan-Lagos over January unrest in Idumota which led to the death of some people. 

 

Kunle Poly who is being charged with conspiracy to commit murder, murder and membership of an unlawful society, is being detained alongside one Adekanbi Wahab, aged 38.

 

Chief Magistrate Linda Balogun ordered that the NURTW executive be remanded for 30 days pending advice from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution,  following an application by the prosecutor, Mr Morufu Animashaun,  attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Panti.

 

Balogun held that there was merit in the application, before adjourning the case until March 28 for mention.
