Muslims protest against closure of Ogbomoso Central Mosque [PHOTOS]

The attempt to prevent Sheikh Teliat Yinus Oluwasina Ayilara, the Chief Imam of Ogbomoso, from leading the Friday Jummat prayer was met with strong resistance from the Muslim community who gathered for prayer.

Earlier, it had been reported that certain influential Muslims in Ogbomoso had ordered the padlocking of Ogbomoso Central Mosque situated at Oja’gbo.

According to sources, there were individuals who expressed opposition to the appointment of the chief imam, which led to the recent events. However, the Muslim faithful demonstrated their solidarity by turning up in large numbers and vehemently opposing the closure and any attempts to impede their religious activities.

The situation has sparked tension and concerns among the Muslim community in Ogbomoso, highlighting the need for peaceful resolution and dialogue to address any underlying issues.

Despite efforts to close down the Ogbomoso Central Mosque, a large number of Muslims in the town defied the move and gathered at the mosque to observe the Friday Jummat service. The Muslim community, showing their support and solidarity for the embattled chief imam, came in hundreds to participate in the prayer.

To maintain peace and prevent any potential disruption, security operatives and their vehicles were present around the mosque on Friday. Their presence aimed to ensure the maintenance of law and order during the prayer session and to address any potential security concerns.

According to multiple sources, the chief imam of Ogbomoso successfully led fellow Muslims in observing the Jummat service, disregarding the closure order issued by certain Muslim leaders in the town. Despite the attempts to prevent the Jummat service from taking place, the chief imam and the Muslim community stood firm and proceeded with the prayer.
